How Alabama CDL Testing Works

The Alabama CDL knowledge exam is taken at an ALEA Driver License office and costs $25 per attempt. The general knowledge test is required for all applicants. Endorsement tests (Air Brakes, HazMat, Tanker, etc.) are added depending on the vehicle you plan to drive. Use the tests below to prepare for each section.

40-question national Class A practice test covering combination vehicles, coupling, weight limits, and general knowledge. Same format as the real CDL Class A exam.

The main CDL knowledge test — required for all CDL applicants. Covers driving safety, pre-trip, cargo, and federal regulations.
